Two items in particular.
From Julie:
post something!
I’m starting to worry!
From Super Sally:
no blog since we left causes a mother to worry
Hope you are just busy.
“Busy” gets the general idea (and careful readers will have anticipated from this post that I had some serious three-dimensional-world business to attend to). Have you ever wondered what it might be like to be spread to a thickness of just a few molecules? In the last 12 days, I think I’ve gotten pretty close.
I got through my conference (and even had the overheads for both my talks made by the day before the conference started). It was a “local” conference, at least as far as the San Francisco Bay Area interpretation of “local” goes, which added a weird element to the logistics. I’ll have a post about that soon.
The day after the conference, the sprogs and I packed up the car (mostly with locally grown organic produce) and headed off to Yosemite to hang out with two of my fellow conference-goers and their families. What with the natural wonders and all, I was offline during that time, too.
And now, back home, I’ve thrown myself into the preparations for the academic term that starts next week (not to mention the Fall soccer season that has already started for the elder Free-Ride offspring and will start next week for the younger Free-Ride offspring). Much of this involves updating stuff in the WebCT shell for my online philosophy of science course. The clunkiness of WebCT (at least, of the version we’re using on my campus) is breathtaking. Yet, I must persist and get through all the pesky little items on the to-do list.
Because tomorrow evening, I have to be on a plane to fly east. (Super-secret blogger business, which I may blog about after the fact.)
Send me good vibes on the to-do list completion and I should be able to get some posts up before I’m in the air and offline again.
And don’t worry so much. There is life apart from the blogosphere!
Overheads?
Glad you are back! I missed the sprogs Friday, and hope their smart thoughts and fun drawings return soon (after you have the chance to catch up, of course!).
Not only good vibes, but a wish for that 4-more-hours-a-day-that-nobody-knows-about that I crave for myself.
Travel safely, and may everything work out well.
Is it the new version of WebCT… it is insanely clunky and counter intuitive. I pity you & me since I have to update as well.
You went to Yosemite? Sheesh. Well, you could have just said that. That gets you a pass in my book for, um, as long as you want!
Also, in my defense, I did look to see if you were a-conferencing. I just looked in the wrong place. I’m not a complete tool, I swear.
And really, I missed the sprogs more.
Good vibes!
